In our kitchen we have a very deep drawer which has become the arts and crafts drawer. I’ve gradually been building up our arts and crafts supplies and, as this drawer is used on an almost daily basis, it had become a complete state! I actually dreaded opening it. So yesterday we took a trip to IKEA (woohoo! I love it there!) and picked up some containers so I could get organised!
So I got everything out of the drawer and started sorting things into boxes! It was so satisfying! I actually found myself singing “Everything has a place! Everything has a place!”; it was bringing me a LOT of joy!
I already had a few small tubs, so we bought some GLIS tubs and some of the smaller SAMLA boxes from IKEA. I thought I’d write you a list of some of the things we have in our craft drawer. There’s nothing very out of the ordinary but I always think it’s fun to see what other people use and get a few ideas! So, we have…
- paper: coloured, tissue, plain, card
- craft foam
- pom poms
- lolly sticks
- pipe cleaners
- playdough and tools
- corks (I actually only have one so far. Feel free to send me some.)
- small bells and bead strings
- googly eyes
- crayons and pencils
- paints-we use crayola as they are washable
- dot markers
- glue-PVA (easy for littlies!) and glue sticks
- scissors (we use these and she calls them her “snissors”!)
- colouring books
Wow, that’s a lot! No wonder the drawer was such a state. But, TA-DAAA!! Here it is now!
I am looking forward to doing arts and crafts with our tidy new drawer! At some point I would like these tubs to be more accessible to T. But I think for now, I will keep them UNaccessible!
If you have any other craft drawer staples I’d love to hear them!
