Baby Play: Farm Animal Book Basket

Posted on 03/05/201802/05/2018by beccatooth

Recently, A has become so interested in books. If he sees one lying around he’ll often go over and have a look at it – and of course, a good chew on it too. Because we already had a consistent bedtime routine in place for T, A has heard books being read nearly every day […]

From the Bookshelf: Imagine, by Alison Lester

Posted on 02/04/201831/03/2018by beccatooth

A couple of years ago, we went for a New Years Day walk with some family and stopped off at a little café nearby. It had a lovely area for the children with lots of books for them to read, and it was here that I came across this total gem! I was straight on […]

Make an Arctic Small World

Posted on 19/01/201819/01/2018by beccatooth

Last week, I wrote about how to Make Your Own Small World Scene. Small worlds are SO much fun and can while away far too many hours on Pinterest and Instagram looking at ones which other people have put together – so many inviting scenes just waiting to be played with! This week, we have […]

Make Your Own Small World Scene

Posted on 13/01/2018by beccatooth
title image 'make your own small world scene' with 6 images of various small worlds (jungle, mini beast, bear cave, dinosaur, river huts, woodland rabbits)

When I taught Reception, small world scenes were one of my favourite activities to prepare, and these days I love to do it for T. I think they make such a lovely activity, combining the creativity of fantasy and storytelling with the development of the child’s scientific and geographical understanding of the world around them. […]

Ocean Spaghetti Messy Play

Posted on 08/01/201829/05/2018by beccatooth
green spaghetti with plastic animals including fish, octopus and seahorse

I love doing messy play with T, although I definitely go through seasons of doing loads and then having a dry spell! Messy play is such a brilliant activity because it allows children to explore, experiment and create using all their senses. It provides so many learning opportunities! Before Christmas I challenged myself to do […]

Brilliant Books: Peck, Peck, Peck

Posted on 14/02/2017by beccatooth
Title image

I can’t remember where I first saw Peck, Peck, Peck or whether it was recommended to me by someone. I’ve had it on T’s Amazon wish list for quite a while, and recently her grandparents bought it for her. It has quickly become a family favourite! It tells the story of a young woodpecker who has […]

Review: Cotswold Wildlife Park

Posted on 06/01/2017by beccatooth

We recently went on holiday to the Cotswolds and were lucky enough to be just a five minute drive from the Cotswolds Wildlife Park. This popped up as one of the top things to do in the area when we looked in Trip Advisor, and also came highly recommended by some friends of ours. The […]

Top Toys for 3-7’s this Christmas

Posted on 26/11/2016by beccatooth

It’s so easy to get stuck trying to think of ideas for your children at Christmas. While enjoyment is obviously the key thing I’m looking for when finding gifts for T, I do have a few other criteria… Longevity. Most of the toys T has received since her first birthday are things that will last. […]

Celebrating Autumn

I love Autumn! I don’t think I’d ever be able to choose a favourite season as I really love them all, but in Autumn I just love the beautiful colours, the knitwear, and the run-up to Christmas! Here are a few of the Autumnal activities we’ve been enjoying. Why not give them a go at […]

Top Toys: 10 ways to play with picture tiles

Posted on 04/06/201602/09/2016by beccatooth

Welcome back to my Top Toys series! Today I’m looking at picture tiles. I love our picture tiles! We found these ones from Hape which T loves. They are ideal from around 18 months onwards – I envision that we will still be using these aged seven and perhaps even beyond! Here are my ten […]

About Me

Hi, I'm Becca! I'm a primary school teacher from London and mum to one lovely little girl. I work part time so I get to spend the rest of my week with her! I started this blog as a New Years resolution and to give me a bit of a creative outlet. I find reading other people's blogs inspiring, so hopefully this will inspire others too! I will mostly write about the things T and I get up to during the week, with a few other bits and bobs (food, craft, teaching) thrown in for good measure along the way! Oh, and the blog name - my favourite childhood pudding, and encapsulates two of the things I will write about most frequently - childhood and food!
