I’m on the lookout for a new moisturiser! For years I’ve used Olay, which I liked because it felt light and didn’t leave a residue on my skin. My skins been in various different conditions over the last fifteen or so years but I’ve stuck with this moisturiser throughout and it has worked well! It also has SPF15 – not much sun protection but better than nothing!
However recently I’ve noticed my skin has become dry and more prone to breakouts. So I’m looking around! I’ve done a bit of research and I’m trying to avoid moisturisers with alcohol in. Not an easy task! It seems there are two main kinds of alcohol as far as moisturiser is concerned: one which is added to make the moisturiser feel light by encouraging it to evaporate quickly yet can be damaging and drying for skin; the other ‘fatty’ alcohols which aren’t alcohol in the usual sense and help to bind the water and oils. Or something like that anyway?!
I’m aiming for more natural products although I’ve not gone the whole hog and started blending coconut oil and honey or anything!
Anyway, I’ve managed to get five samples of moisturiser and I’ll be trying them out over the next few days and seeing if any of them cut the mustard.
I’ll be testing Crème Perfectrice and Crème Divine from L’Occitane, Skin Drink and Magical Moringa from LUSH, and Aloe Soothing Day Cream from The Body Shop.
Check back over the next few days to see how I get on!
